Deependra Moitra, Ph.D., is a management consultant, focusing on helping companies transform their performance through strategic innovation. Dr. Moitra has over 18 years of multifaceted experience and has extensively advised senior management teams at leading multinational corporations as well as entrepreneurial ventures. He has helped companies across industry sectors accelerate business performance improvement and construct platforms for profitable growth. Dr. Moitra also serves on the advisory boards of numerous start-ups and not-for-profit institutions. A widely recognized expert on global innovation management, he frequently speaks at major industry forums and international conferences.

Previously, Dr. Moitra held senior management positions with Infosys Technologies and Lucent Technologies. At Infosys, as the General Manager for R&D, he was instrumental in shaping the company's nonlinear growth strategy and spearheaded a highly successful services innovation initiative, encompassing emerging technologies R&D, business technology consulting, and intellectual property commercialization. At Lucent, as a start-up team member and general manager for its India R&D Centre, he played a key role in establishing a large, high performance software product R&D organization and led the centre to formally achieve the status of Bell Labs in a record time of 2 years. Earlier in his career, he held various positions with Siemens Communications Software and the Indian Space Research Organization.

Dr. Moitra has earned the reputation of being a business savvy leader with an entrepreneurial mindset. He has a strong general management background with a demonstrated ability to incubate new growth opportunities, manage large and complex global product development programs with multi-country footprints, and deliver high performance business results. He has successfully lead organizations through periods of rapid growth as well as intense business change, and earned respect of employees, managers and customers for his transformational abilities. His leadership style and accomplishments have been profiled, among highly visible leaders, in an internationally acclaimed book, Leading with Wisdom, published in 2007 by Sage Publications and Greenleaf Publishing.

Dr. Moitra received a B. Tech. degree in instrumentation and control engineering from the University of Calicut, where he graduated with honors at the top of his program. He earned his Ph.D. from the Rotterdam School of Management for his cutting edge research on globalization of R&D. He has several publications to his credit including the widely acclaimed book China and India: Opportunities and Threats for the Global Software Industry (Chandos Publications, 2007) that he co-authored. He serves on the editorial boards of many leading international journals and occasionally also lectures at leading business schools in India and abroad.
